Apple a Day series, No. 12

Watercolor on Saunders Waterford 260# Hot Press paper
Another Applescape, and with two under my belt, my experimenter self came out to play. "Solar Flare" pushes the paint thickness envelope. In the amazing Sargent watercolor exhibit I got to see Boston Museum of Art about three years ago, I saw that he often applied watercolor a bit thicker, like oils. Today's Apple pushes that close to the limit. Literally. Too thick, and the paint will crack and fall off sometime in the future. None of it on this painting is thicker than Sargent's was, and those paintings showed no cracking.
